    FIESTA OF SAINT BLAISE IN DUBROVNIK

    St. Blaise is the protector and patron saint of the city of Dubrovnik and is celebrated as his intercessor.
    According to tradition special honor and devotion is shown to St. Blaise during the celebration of his holiday on the 3rd of February for his help in defending the city of Dubrovnik from  the Venetians in 971. Come see Dubrovnik and experience not only the beauty of the city itself but also the culture.


     


    QUOITS IN SINJ

    Quitos in Sinj – the game of knights is played in Sinj – the center of the Sinj and Cetina border – every year as an anniversary of the victory upon the Turkish invaders on 14th of  August 1715 when 700 Croatian soldiers from Sinj stopped an invasion of the Turkish Mehmed- pasha Čelić army with 60 000 soldiers.
    The goal of the quoits is to try and hit with a spear the center of the iron circle that is called "alka" on a horse at full gallop.
