    Quoits in Sinj


    Quitos in Sinj – the game of knights is played in Sinj – the center of the Sinj and Cetina border – every year as an anniversary of the victory upon the Turkish invaders on 14th of  August 1715 when 700 Croatian soldiers from Sinj stopped invasion of the Turkish Mehmed- pasha Čelić army with 60 000 soldiers.
    Running of the quoits is regulated with the statute of quoits, and quoits procession comprises of the duke, troop of quoits, troop of young men and company.
    The goal of the quoits is to try and hit with a spear the center of the iron circle that is called "alka" on a horse at full gallop. The track is 160 m long and the "alka" is positioned 3,2 m high.
    The participant that has the most center hits is the winner of the quoits!

    DAY 1 – SPLIT/TROGIR

    Arrival to TROGIR. Accommodation in the hotel in the surroundings of Split/Trogir. Dinner. Overnight.

    TROGIR – old Dalmatian town, founded by the Greek colonists from the island of Vis in the 3rd century B.C..
    In the central Europe it is considered to be the best preserved roman-gothic town. That is why the old part of town with its historical-cultural monuments (Kamerlengo tower, Čipiko palace, cathedral of the St. Lawrence) is on the UNESCO list of the World heritage.


    DAY 2  – TROGIR – eco- ethno VILLAGE  Radošić - SPLIT

    Breakfast in the hotel. Meeting with the local guide and visit of  TROGIR.. Departure to eco- ethno village Radošić.

    Eco – ethno village RADOŠIĆ – a Dalmatian stone village with 20 houses  was renovated in the middle of this rural complex  It is surrounded with oak wood and it hides ethnographic regional museum with 45  national costumes from  Dalmatinska zagora and 750 original village items, tools and dishes.
    Hospitable hosts will meet the visitors on this rural complex, which is also home to many domestic animals, and offer them autochthonous domestic specialties and show them through collections how people lived in this parts of Croatia.

    After lunch departure to SPLIT.
    Meeting with the local guide and city tour. Free time. Departure to hotel from Split . Dinner. Overnight.

    SPLIT – the biggest town and port of Dalmatia and the economical and cultural center.
    In the 4th century roman emperor Diocletian built a palace – the core on whose antique ruins modern Mediterranean town was built.
    For its historical and cultural value, the palace that comprises of the Temple of Jupiter, Cathedral of the Saint Domnius, Peristil square and the Diocletians cellars is on the UNESCO list of the World heritage from the 1979.   

    DAY 3 –  QUOITS IN SINJ

    Breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Sinj. Meeting with the local guide. City tour – Museum of the Cetina border, Church of our Blessed Lady of Sinj, (maybe visit of hippodrome where a paddock of horses can be seen and visit of Quoits court* )  

    After the visit and before the quoits starts – free time.
    We suggest lunch in one of the autochthonous taverns with the specialties of Sinj and Cetina border or just  a coffee in one of the bars of the town known by the „ town that has the most bars in Croatia“.
    If the entrance fees for the quoits were reserved in advance, accommodation in the audience.
    Return to the hotel or continuation of the program.
    Dinner** Overnight.

    **Quoits is finished after 20:00h so late dinner should be organized in the hotel or have a program without the dinner.
